Hellgate: London Beta Starting 9/17 According To Retailers
Flak buffer time! Yes, I know that we make a point to not make news of retailer dates. However, we have reason to believe there is merit to this one.
Preface in place, Hellgate Guru forumers who have pre-ordered Hellgate: London from GameStop and EB Games have reported receiving emails regarding the start of the beta testing phase. Here is the pertinent excerpt from the email:
Please provide a valid email address when ordering. Beta codes and instructions will be emailed prior to the 9/17/07 start date. Supplies are limited.
When asked about the validity of this date, Community Manager Kaiser Hwang assured us that there would be official news about it very soon. Thanks to all who emailed us regarding the date in the correspondence received from retailers!

This email was sent out yesterday to a pre-order purchaser from IncGamers.
Dear Valued Customer.
Thank you for writing to us regarding your recent purchase of Hellgate: London. Please be advised your Beta access code and instructions will be emailed to you prior to the Beta start date. This date has yet to be announced. The September 17th date was in error. We are still waiting on these codes from the manufacturer, however we have been assured the codes will be sent or will be available in-store in plenty of time for the Beta. Online orders will be emailed the Beta Key only.

Presumably, the retraction of the beta start date was result of pressure from Flagship Studios and/or Electronic Arts.
