FSS adresses the EULA questions

Written on October 23, 2007 – 10:19 pm | by G-15 |

Kaiser just posted a response to the concerns about the EULA, which contains a paragraph about an “adware” collecting non-personal information. Some do not care, some think it is a breach in their privacy, and here is a summary (because this post is rather long) of what Kaiser has to say on the subject :

- FSS will not scan the player’s computer for personal information without warning.

- This part of the EULA is useful, as it will permit FSS to fight hackers and cheaters more effectively.

- EA does not have control over the online and offline security of the game.

- The ads are in the game to further realism.

- Partnership with Massive saves time for FSS, who won’t have to take care of the advertising themselves.

- All ads must be approved by FSS before entering the game.

Should we elect to serve ads, they must be approved by us, Flagship Studios. […] We have no interest in putting giant, bright-white billboard in the middle of your battles or having you wield swords of Brand X Cola.

- Ping0 and FSS keep total control over the online components of Hellgate: London.

Finally, Hellgate: London and all of the online play and components are controlled by Flagship Studios and Ping0. We’re all gamers here, and we’re as sensitive to protecting our personal information as you are. This is why we have spent the past six months becoming a member of the ESRB Privacy Online certification program. This means that we’re meeting the most rigorous standards in the industry for protecting your privacy and the information that you provide us.

Well, I am sure most people will be reassured. I am ^_^
