It feels like the end of an era, albeit one plagued by drama, disappointment and failed aspirations. History has finally closed the chapter on Hellgate: London.

It should be said that there were good times. Good times made to taste even sweeter because of all the bitterness surrounding it, not in spite of it. Lasting friendships were forged and alliances were formed. History has left its mark on us all.

In memory of the game, Ahriman of the Hellgate Guru forums penned this little write-up [link] of the game’s final moments:

Those who stayed up long enough could witness the last shut-down of HG:L. Most players had gathered in Stonehenge and on the minute of 6 am GMT, or midnight CST, did Hellgate: London prompt with an unknown network error and refused any further connection attempts.

Additionally, sillytubbie wrote the following, whose words (highlighted in bold) echo my thoughts:
Yes, even the webpage is gone.Feels like it was just launched yesterday, when I got really hyped up about the game, cannot concentrate on work and rushed to the launch site to get my CE box. Ran home and played the game for a full 4 hours.

This game will always have a place in my heart.

Tiggs made a post on the Official Forums stating that both the official forums of Hellgate: London and Mythos will be shutting down.

On Friday, July 18th at Midnight (CST) the forums will be shutting down. We would like to thank everyone for being a part of this wonderful community and we hope to see you all again soon.

See it for yourself. Thanks for the news tip, Swordplay. You shame me with your news finding abilities sometimes.

Hey everyone, incase you haven’t noticed yet, we’ve made a number of improvements to the front page of the website which should make it much easier to read now and provide a layout that seems more professional and modern. It also means that all of our sites across our network now share a common theme.

To go with the change, there is also a new background design, as well as a whole set of new smileys you can use on our forums.

We hope that you enjoy the changes :)

Our newly established network of websites, in extension of Hellgate Guru and Mythos Guru, is looking for a few skilled staff to fill the following roles: News Poster, Content Developer, and Forum Overseer. The positions that prospective staff members would like to fill entail the following titles and responsibilities:

News Poster
Must be ready and able to post up-to-date news on the respective game, with updates based on Google Alerts, official websites or gaming news websites.

Content Developer
Depending on the game, the content developer will be required to produce guides, walkthroughs, character profiles, or strategies. Depending on the expertise of the individual, content such as skill calculators or other interactive media are much desired content.

Forum Overseer
The responsibility of a forum overseer is twofold: moderate the forums, and to encourage and maintain activity within the forum by creating new posts, responding to existing posts, and drawing traffic from the internet at large in order to grow the community and its forums. Forum overseers are encouraged to maintain a positive, and friendly attitude towards users.

Hey fellow Hellgate Guru and Mythos Guru users. Sol Invictus, the website owner and administrator is currently performing a few changes to the way these sites will function.

What is basically happening, is that the Mythos Guru forums will be merged into the Hellgate Guru forums. This does not mean they will be as one big forum, but rather that Mythos Guru will be a sub forum of Hellgate Guru and it will be a matter of clicking one extra button to get to the familiar Mythos Guru forums.

What this means:
- There will still be two separate front pages for news
- The new posts button will likely show both forums, unless we split it up later
- Likely, the users over at Mythos Guru will be deleted from the user base so as not to have duplicates. Your posts will be transferred over, but you will have to re-register on Hellgate Guru to have an account. This may or may not happen though and we appologise for any issues it causes
- There will be one account used to login to both forums which will mean same avatars, signatures and post counts over both sites
- The forums URL will be linked to Hellgate Guru so to all the Mythos Guru users, bookmark our new forums here once this is done

We will do our best to try to make this process as easy as we can on you guys.

Thanks :)

Dear Hellgate Guru members, readers, contribitors and visitors.

Firstly I would like to thank you all for the great effort you have put towards making this site the great place that it is already and hope that you all join us for the exciting changes we have planned ahead of us.

While some changes will be announced in the future, the first two will be made now.

Firstly, we belive that as a fan site, it is kind of pointless of us having a PoD forum. All that happens there, is people vent their problems and don’t suggest any fixes, or they flame each other until threads derail more and more. It also means that FSS doesn’t really visit our site anymore, which we can hopefully rectify. This means that we are going to close the PoD, and while it will remain as an archive, we will not allow anymore posts in it, or in its style anywhere on the forums.

While some of you might be ready to lynch us like an angry mob for this closure, we are not getting rid of complaints all together. Instead we are setting you guys up with a new suggestions forums for Hellgate London.

The suggestion forum will follow a simple set of rules and will not be anywhere as lenient as the PoD was. Rather than just venting, you can post your problems, why they occur, what you don’t like about them, as well as possible suggestions you have for these.

Thanks, and see the rest of the rules on our forums!

For the past few days, our server came under Denial of Service attacks which resulted in a lot of sluggishness on the site. I’ve since dealt with the matter, so the server should be up and running at full speed.

I apologize if this little bit of nastiness prevented you from having a smooth experience with us on our website.

Thank you for your continued support.

Hellgate Guru is pleased to announce that the Elemental Power Cost Calculator, designed by Dunkz, is now hosted on our site. Collaborating with many players, Dunkz put in a lot of work to make the formulas all work together so that a working Power Cost Calculator could be established.

Due to misleading skill descriptions, the Elemental Power Costs, along with the Master of the Elements skill, left many Summoners wondering exactly how much Power they would need to support all these minions. I began collecting data on this because I saw many posts about the 41 Elemental army and wondered if it was even possible. The Hellgate Guru community  helped immensely in this project, providing me with accurate Patch 1.0 information, as well as in game communications with players.

Many of the aspects of the Excel format is locked, for security reasons. I do hope we could get a dedicated Java Script coder to help with the process of actually making it a stand-alone feature on Hellgate Guru. I hope my efforts at least help a couple of new and old players see what their Summoner is truly capable of, keeping the limits of Power into consideration.
