When creating your charactacter you have a wide array of options you can change around to make your character exactly the way you want him/her.

After choosing which class and gender and naming your character you can customize the way you want to look in-game. If you want a better look when customizing the face you can scroll up to enable the zoom.

Face lets you choose between 11 different faces.

Hair Style lets you choose between 17 different hair styles.

Facial Hair/Accessories lets you choose between 14 different beard styles for male characters or 16 different accessories(piercings) for female characters.

Skin Color opens up a pallet, letting you choose between 24 different skin tones.

Hair Color opens up a pallet, letting you choose between 24 different colors for your characters hair. Also applies to facial hair for male characters.

Height and bulk lets you change the height and build of your character.

You can also opt out of the detailed character creation process and click the “randomize” button further down. Note that your name, gender, class and game mode will not be randomized, but stay the same.

Game Mode:
If you have finished the game you’re also able to choose if you want to play hardcore mode, elite mode or elite hardcore mode. To do this you press either or both of the two buttons on the “game mode” option underneath your name.

Gem:
On the character creation there’s a gem shaped button that turns red when you click it, like the gem in Diablo 2 battle.net.

The ground underneath your character will change when you turn it off and on, and if you click enough times the circle HellGate: London logo will appear instead of the gas/goo/ectoplasm that usually appears. It is still unknown what effect, if any, this has.
